Optical Technology

At Viewpoint, It has always been our goal to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to Optical technology.

We were one of the first Independent practices to see the benefits of using OCT and Optomap routinely with each patient and we continue striving to offer the latest and most effective techniques.

Digital eye exams
Digital eye exams use computerized sensors and automated refraction systems to perform many of the manual measurements and adjustments of a traditional eye exam. 
Ultra-widefield Retinal Imaging (Optomap)
With traditional, small-field, and even widefield retinal imaging, only 10-100⁰ of the retina can be captured in a single image.

Optomap is the only true, clinically validated, ultra-widefield retinal image that can capture 82% or 200⁰ of the retina, in a single capture, an increase of 50% over the next closest imaging device.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
With OCT, your Optometrist can see each of the retina’s distinctive layers and the optic nerve fibre layer. This allows your Optometrist to map and measure their thickness and changes over time.

These measurements help with diagnosis. They also guide treatment for glaucoma as well as retinal disease, like age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic eye disease.

Myopia Management
At Viewpoint we have very specialised equipment to manage Myopia. In turn, we can treat this with both contact lenses and spectacles.

An appointment with one of our Optometrists can determine the correct course of treatment for your child.

Using technology to enhance patient care and outcomes

The best thing you can do to assure the highest standards of 
eye care is to book yourself an appointment for a thorough eye examination with a qualified Optometrist.

 At Viewpoint we usually recommend our customers visit us at least once a year for a full eye test to keep tabs on how their eyes are doing.

This way if anything crops up or we notice some sight deterioration we can investigate it promptly, before the problem worsens.

Audiology Technology

At Viewpoint, we pride ourselves on using the very best and up-to-date technology for testing, wax-removal, protection and hearing correction.

Advanced audiometry equipment

Our standard assessment comprises of Video Otoscopy (taking a live picture of the ear), Tympanometry (a test to determine the function of the outer and middle ear), Pure-tone Audiometry and Speech in noise testing.

Our equipment is state of the art and includes a custom-made, sound-treated enclosure for testing.

Hearing aid fitting and customisation

As with our testing equipment, Viewpoint only supplies the best hearing aids from the world’s top 5 hearing aid manufacturers, Phonak, Widex, Oticon, GN and Starkey.

These are set up using both in-situ audiometry and Real Ear Measurement, this allows us to assess the accuracy of the hearing device in the individual’s ears. 

Wax Removal Service

Our Clinical Audiologist has over twenty years wax removal experience.

We currently use micro-suction for all cases were appropriate as this is the safest and most comfortable of the techniques available.

Noise Protection and Impressions taking.

Viewpoint offers both off-the-shelf and custom-made ear protection.

Our Audiologist has a lifelong history as a musician and has a special interest in helping musicians protect their hearing. Due to this, we also offer an impression taking service for ACS products and in-ear monitoring systems for musicians.
